Old work colleagues each started a hedge fund 15-20 years ago. As part of their potential investors' due diligence, I was contacted as a reference. I gave the analysts detailed and favorable reviews on both of these guys.
Both of the investors came through for these two hedge fund portfolio managers….

As a former hedge fund portfolio manager, the only thing I cared about was my performance. Nothing else mattered.
But when I started my own investment management firm four years ago, during the first year, this attitude didn’t really work.
Everything changed when I started to internalize this.

Being generous instead of being greedy, creates a cycle.
