The Secret

The life of a teenage girl is tough.  When I was young, I thought my mom knew nothing. 

I could bully her because she was a single mom, and I could do what I wanted. 

When it came to my oldest, Alexandra before she entered high school, 

I told her she was going to hate me at some point. 

Later, when we were fighting, she reminded me of what I had said years before and 

It was a mistake; 

It became self-fulling 

Here is the secret I discovered about myself and how I now deal with my kids. 

You can’t tell someone to do something. 

They have to discover it themselves. 

Most importantly, they have to believe they can do it. 

When I was reading the book The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, which Alexandra recommended to me 9 months before I left my job to go out on my own.

Choosing the right words means you can expand your mental boundaries. 

If you can control your choice of words, you can bend reality in your favor - Thomas Oppong

So many of us come up with reasons why we can’t do something - 

This becomes our reality. 

If we believe we can do it - it becomes self-fulfilling. 

Henry Ford’s quote opened up my world; all I had to do was believe I could do something, 

and it could become a reality. 

It is what gave me the confidence to open up my own firm one day. 

I’ve been pushing my other daughter, Caroline, to get on TikTok or YouTube and start posting.

I am here to support her, but I was getting her in her way.

She resisted because I was telling her to do something… 

then, because of her buddy Slater Nalley, 

she got the confidence to finally post her first TikTok 

77,000 likes and +300,000 views, +2000 reposts. 

She finally believed in herself and learned she could do it.

You have to believe in yourself
