No Black Swans in Jackson Hole
Celebrating my daughter's next step in life, attending college next year,
I'm reflecting on her path ahead.
As she embarks on her four-year journey,
and then later, after she graduates,
she'll navigate through phases of
learning, earning, and gaining wisdom.
I've learned the key to thriving in this dynamic world is the understanding that despite economic ups and downs and personal hurdles,
we all have the power to shape our destinies.
A positive mindset and focusing on what's within our control are crucial tools for anyone.
It's important to remember that while unpredictable events, a black swan,
such as the 2009 financial crisis, or a pandemic, may occur
(A black swan is an unpredictable event that is beyond what is normally expected of a situation and has potentially severe consequences.)
Being prepared with resources—
whether they be skills and/or financial reserves—
can turn challenges into opportunities.
This lesson is valuable for all, reminding us to build resilience and
be ready to capitalize on unforeseen situations.
But for now 2024 looks bright!
Fun seeing so many white swans here in Jackson Hole.
Jackson Hole is also the place where the Fed hosts an Economic Symposium each year.
Hope there are no black swans that randomly appear!
