Start with Why

Ever since I started posting a few short videos explaining complex topics like tariffs, I kept hearing the same thing:
"You need to connect your content to your target audience."
Which meant creating tariff videos were not about female financial empowerment.
Follow your brand strategy.
Build the perfect client profile.
Create content that fits neatly into a box.
The problem? It wasn’t in my heart.
I wasn’t driven to write about female financial empowerment even though we all know how important it is.
"But explaining things like how tariffs impact your wallet? That actually felt fun.
And then recently, something shifted. The creativity started flowing.
I filmed one video showing how creating a budget is like baking a pie.
✔ 50% of your income goes to essentials — your flour.
✔ 20% goes to savings — your sugar.
✔ 30% goes to the flexible fun stuff — your whipped cream.
The moment I landed on that simple visual, it was easy. The creativity followed naturally.
Then I filmed another video:
👉 When you overspend one month?
👉 You tighten your belt the next.
👉 Sometimes that means eating Cup O’ Noodles instead of Chicken Tarragon.
But what triggered this little burst of creativity?
I went back to Simon Sinek’s Start with Why.
Why am I doing this? What is my purpose? Why do I exist?
For me, it all traces back to my childhood — growing up and realizing very early that I was responsible for my financial well-being.
Those small moments shaped everything.
This is how I discovered what it means to feel financially empowered.
Like counting every dollar to make sure I could afford lunch with my friends.
Learning how to pinch pennies and solve small financial problems gave me the confidence later to solve much bigger ones.
That’s why I feel so inspired to turn these “boring” financial concepts — like budgeting, spending, investing — into something creative, visual, and fun which is the real way to inspire financial empowerment.
Because it’s not just about explaining money, it’s about helping people take ownership of it — and making the journey a little more enjoyable.
