The Best Glow-Up is Inner Work

My mother was very beautiful.
She was the golden girl at Purdue University.
She thought she could just show up and get attention
She was often lost in her own world.
She ignored me.
She loved me, but her attention was elsewhere.
As a child, I learned something quietly but powerfully:
If I wanted to be seen, I had to strive.
That drive led me to investment banking, Harvard Business School, a hedge fund portfolio manager, and a career shaped by ambition and external validation.
I chased success to build my resume.
Recently, I started writing “Morning Pages”—a simple practice that helped me learn more about myself.
I uncovered a deep truth:
my hunger for attention wasn’t vanity—it was the echo of being overlooked.
And I don’t resent my mother for that.
In fact, I thanked her.
Her negative turned into a positive.
Shadow work, as Thomas Oppong says, isn’t about fixing what’s wrong—it’s about reclaiming the parts we’ve buried.
My mother’s mistake became my strength.
Her neglect gave me the fire to build a meaningful life.
But now, in this second act, I’m playing a different game.
One that’s less about impressing others, and more about inner beauty—growing my talents to help others, especially women.
I’m creating videos to teach financial literacy not because I need to be seen,
but because I see others who need support, others who need to learn and understand the money game.
The world is hard and getting harder.
If we want to thrive, we need to go back, do the work,
understand what truly drives us and create a plan.
That’s where power begins—not in perfection, but in honest awareness.
Reach out if you need help with your next act!
Thanks for reading!!
