I was just about to add some additional major costs to my business and not really analyzing why .. until I realized I was just transacting.
Transactions are deals.
We all transact.
We buy stuff all the time.
We get stuff done.
It feels great to check off the item on our To-Do list.
But it feels empty.
Does it fulfill a need?
Or is it just a want?
Instead of a transaction,
what about a transformation?
This is when we get to apply our superpowers.
I want my investments/the costs I incur in my business and life to be transformational,
not transactional.
Meaning in our personal or business lives, we can’t just add costs.
We shouldn't just buy stuff because we think it will make us feel better, look better,
or make my business bigger and more impressive.
Unless there is a clear benefit, a way to transform.
As I realized this, I completely changed my thinking.
If I just add these two additional costs without a clear return on investment,
that might not be a good plan.
As I was digging deep into an existing portfolio yesterday for a potential client, I wasn't sure at first if I could add any value.
I immediately re-valuated,
- put a goal attached to the two investments in my business and
- put a goal to my potential client’s portfolio to find the most efficient after-tax way to produce income.
For my business, I’m delaying incurring these two major expenses until I have a clear return.
For my potential client, I created a piece of analysis, which I think is a piece of art….
It was transformational.
So instead, of just treating everyday decisions as transactions, see if you can turn them into something transformative….
At least in my case it makes me feel like Wonder Woman!
It will make you feel better and more like a superhero.
Well, I don’t dress up as Wonder Woman, but my daughter and her friends do!!
This way you are playing to win and not playing to lose.
If you feel like you need a bit more strategy in your life, try to shift your thinking away from a transactional way of doing things to a transformational way of doing things.
