She Leads

I visited my allergist yesterday.

I tell him what he does is so important.

So he asks, what do I do?

“I have my own investment management and financial planning firm.”

“Would you recommend women go into investment management?”

“Do you have a daughter?”

“Yes”

“No, not unless she is hungry. She has to want to go from rags to riches.”

“How old is your daughter?”

“7 years old.”

I laugh. He doesn’t.

I told him about my quick journey, which I went from:

- Investment banking, great financial model training, but too much of an old boys' club to

- Hedge funds, you get paid for your performance, eat what you kill, but I used to love it because I was hungry back then.

- now, as a financial advisor and investment manager, I love serving my clients.

Then, my doctor shared a conversation he and his wife had.

His wife wants his daughter to stay away from finance and develop empathy.

Then I say that she risks:

  • Not knowing how the economy works.

  • Not knowing how the world works.

She might get some advisor from the local bank selling her an annuity she doesn’t need …

In my view, the secret to thriving in today’s hypercompetitive, dog-eat-dog world, is having a combination of both: we all must have:

  • empathy and understanding of trade-offs,

  • career choices,

  • when to take risk and

  • how we make decisions - based on logic or emotion or both.

As an advisor, I seek to understand and learn from people’s emotions.

Then, I combine logic and emotion to model their financial future.

This is why some folks should collaborate with a financial professional.

We can help you achieve your financial goals and secure a prosperous future.

On Wednesday night, I had the honor of presenting at Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s She Leads webinar.

“Grow and Preserve Your Wealth - Find the Right Financial Professional.”

Moderated by Award-winning Journalist Donna Lowry,  panelists for this free livestream webinar include Christine Niles Kieffer, Senior Director, FINRA Investor Education Foundation; Tiffany Kent, CFP®, Principal of Wealth Engagement, LLC; and Adam Tolliver, CFP®, ChFC®, Financial Advisor Partner, Artisan Financial Strategies.

It's tough to know if you even need an advisor.... but it starts with figuring out what you want and what are you working towards.

Please reach out if you are exploring what your next adventure might be!
